Coastie The Tug Program Needs You!

Attention All Division 3 Flotillas!

Did you know that Coastie the Safety Tug is available for your Flotilla?  With a qualified member from your flotilla Coastie the Tug can be part of your Boat Show and Public Affairs Events.  Division 3 encourages all Flotilla Commanders to have qualified Coastie Operators for your flotilla.

Coastie Tug is a #1 tool for Introducing Children's Water Safety

Coastie the Safety Tug is the highlight of any Public Affairs and is a hit with all the children. Coastie the Tug along with Coastie the Tug Coloring Books take the first step with impacting children with the significance of water safety.  With a memorable happy Coastie the Tug interaction children will retain the message of safety around the water.  Operators of Coastie know the message of water safety they promote to children today maybe the life they saved tomorrow.

Making an impact with the children is what it's all about. Check out the Coastie the Tug interview with local television. Click the link below.

Reserving and Transporting Coastie:

Coastie the Tug will be centrally located between all flotillas taking in consideration the furthest flotillas location.  It is suggested that reserving the Coastie Tug should include at least one day on each end of the time required. This will allow for pick up and return, transporting to event, inspection, battery charging and small repairs if needed.  Though returning the unit fully charged batteries will lose power due to prolong sitting.  Reserving the Coastie Unit for your event will require completing the Coastie Reservation form.   Complete the the Coastie Check Out form and return it to the ADSO-PA-Coastie Charlie Harner   Click Here to download the Coastie Reservation Form.

Send completed form to Charlie Harner ADSO-PA-Coastie at charlieharner@comcast.net

Transporting Coastie by trailer can only be done by approved vehicle facilities only. Members must have their vehicle approved through DIRAUX as an OFU prior to towing the Coastie trailer. Special considerations and inspection will be taught during the Coastie Operations and Orientation training process.  Transporting Coastie without the trailer can be done, however a suitable vehicle of size that will protect the unit is recommended.

The Division 3 Coastie Program is always in need of Coastie Operators willing to work with the children spreading the word of water safety.  Coasties Mission is of extreme importance and can make all the difference for a young person playing near the water.  Not to mention it's just plain fun to goof around with Coastie and be a kid at heart.  Contact the SO-PA-Coastie Charlie Harner and get started today.
